This morning Lily told me she wishes that we lived in England. With Julian’s family in England and mine in California, we are constantly being pulled in either direction. New York is the compromise in-between place, never feeling quite so permanent. There are days when I too dream of living in England. Before Lily was born, we spent a lot of time in Sussex, where I was introduced to a favorite English pastime, walking. Everyday, rain or shine, we put on our wellies and trudged through the countryside. This magnificent tree is on one of our favorite footpaths through endless farm fields and meadows.
